πΎ Our Journey: From Frustration to a Field of Hope
Our story began with something deeply personalβthe daily struggle to find rice that was truly clean, nourishing, and safe for our family.
We wanted rice free from harmful chemicalsβno pesticides, no post-harvest preservatives, no artificial fragranceβjust honest, healthy food grown with care.
Yet in a country globally known for rice, it was surprisingly difficult to find organic rice in small quantities for everyday families like ours.
With years of experience supporting rural communities through agriculture and livelihood projects, I had seen this issue from both sides.
Despite helping farmers improve yields, we lacked a fair, reliable market system to connect them with consumers. Almost every harvest season, I watched farmersβ hopes fade as prices dropped.
They had no bargaining power, no stable buyers, and no incentive to reduce chemical use when the system didnβt reward them for safer, cleaner practices.
Meanwhile, I witnessed a growing dependency on chemicals in the name of productivity:
π« Excessive use of synthetic fertilizers and weed killers in every crop cycle
π« Post-harvest chemicals used to preserve rice or add artificial scent
π« A widening gap between rice grown for export and whatβs safe for local families
It became painfully clearβwe werenβt just facing a supply issue, but a broken food system.
That challenge sparked a powerful idea:
π What if we could grow our own organic riceβnot just for our table, but for families across Cambodia?
π What if we could create a new modelβwhere farmers are empowered, fairly paid, and proud to grow rice that heals people and the planet?
That vision became Khmer Bophata Valleyβ
A movement born from real experience, built on community values, and driven by one clear belief:
Clean food should be a right, not a luxury.
We cultivate our rice in pristine mountainous and highland areas, where the natural environment supports chemical-free farming. This setting allows us to grow rice without the use of harmful pesticides or synthetic inputs, ensuring our grains are free from chemical residues and arsenic contaminationβprotecting both the land and the people.

Grown naturally. Harvested with care. Supporting farmers and the future.
We envision a Cambodia where every family can enjoy safe, flavorful, and nourishing riceβfree from harmful chemicals and full of natural goodness. Our vision is to help break the cycle of poor nutrition and long-term health risks caused by reliance on chemically-grown rice.
At the heart of our work is a deep commitment to healthy living, sustainable agriculture, and inclusive growth. By empowering small-scale farmers and promoting regenerative organic practices, we aim to build a resilient rice system that nourishes both people and planetβimproving public health, restoring rural livelihoods, and advancing Cambodiaβs journey toward equitable and sustainable development.
Our mission is to empower small-scale farmers across Cambodia to cultivate organic, chemical-free rice in ways that protect human health, restore soil vitality, safeguard the well-being of animals and surrounding ecosystems, and ensure food safety.
Β
Through eco-friendly farming practices, hands-on farmer mentoring, and inclusive market access, we strive to make safe, flavorful rice accessible to every Cambodian household, while reducing the long-term health risks and environmental harm caused by conventional agriculture.
Β
By blending traditional wisdom with innovative, sustainable techniques, we are cultivating a resilient food system that nourishes people, preserves biodiversity, and supports shared prosperity for both rural communities and the natural world.
For Consumers
Health-conscious individuals and families in Cambodia are increasingly seeking rice that is not only nutritious and flavorful, but also safe and free from harmful chemicals.
Β
Yet, the majority of rice available in the local market is mass-produced using synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, raising serious concerns around food safety, long-term health impacts, and environmental sustainability.
Β
Access to certified organic rice is limited, and when available, it is often priced beyond the reach of everyday consumers, as most high-quality organic rice is prioritized for export.
For Farmers
Small-scale farmers across Cambodia face systemic challenges in transitioning to sustainable practices.
Β
Years of dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides have led to soil degradation, health risks, and high input costs.
Β
Meanwhile, these farmers struggle to access premium markets and receive fair prices for their harvests.
Β
For many, the pathway to organic farming remains out of reach due to financial barriers, lack of technical support, and limited domestic demand for organic rice.
